Sedation for Nervous Patients
Dedicated to creating and protecting beautiful smiles

What does Sedation involve?

Sedation puts you into a state of indifference. It feels like a 'dream state' or 'out of body' experience.

You’re still able to respond if the dentist makes a simple request. You will find our dental beds very comfortable, we cover your eyes to protect them from the bright lights, and often cover you with a soft blanket. It’s dark, warm, and cosy, and patients often fall asleep. Therefore the treatment time passes very quickly.

What Is IV Sedation

Intravenous (IV) conscious sedation is when we use a drug similar to Valium to calm your nerves. Sedation allows even the most nervous person to accept treatment or we can use it for longer treatments so that you remain comfortable.

Aftercare following sedation

You will be required to stay at the practice for a short time until our dental team is satisfied that you are safe to be accompanied home by a responsible adult.

You will need a responsible adult to take you home, you cannot drive or operate machinery until the next day.

Please also ensure you have a light breakfast or lunch before your appointment.

We normally recommend that you wear a short sleeved tee shirt, no nail polish and very little make up on the day.
