Movember has come round again and I thought that this year myself and Ben Harrison at Crossbank Dental Care would get involved. It's something that I haven't involved the practice in before, even though I have had significant reason to do so. For those of you that don't know, Movember is all about raising awareness of mens health issues, primarily testicular cancer and prostate cancer.

I lost the only Grandfather I ever knew to prostate cancer over 10 years ago now. I also had a personal unfortunate incident whilst on holiday in France 3 years ago, and ended up spending almost a week of my holiday back and forth to the French health services for ultrasound scans. Fortunately it turned out to be just a mild contusion or bruise of one of my more private parts, that occurred during a rock climbing incident. Not only was this episode extremely uncomfortable, it was made more worrying by the fact that I was reading a biography by Lance Armstrong, who is probably the most famous survivor of testicular cancer.

Anyway, here is a photograph of Ben Harrison and myself as we are on the 1st of 'Movember' 2012 and we will update this photograph every week for the next 4 weeks. This should be quite funny, particularly for me, a because at 41 years old I don't even think I can grow a moustache! However in my defence, I could probably grow sideboards like Bradley Wiggins in about 5 days! So here goes and lets see how we do….

Please, Please donate. Follow our progress on Facebook and donate at the practice website, or there are collection boxes within the practice itself. Thank you for your support.

With best wishes,
