How did you hear about Crossbank Dental Care?
I learned about the practice through college as part of my final year work experience. My previous placement was in a care home, so I wanted to try something different. I was very excited about the opportunity to work in a dental practice to discover what happens beyond sitting in the dental chair as a patient.
What course are you currently doing?
I am studying Level 3 Health and Social Care on the extended diploma. This course has expanded my understanding of different health and social care settings, which I find fascinating.
What have you been working on during your time at Crossbank Dental Care?
I have been involved in a range of administrative tasks: including learning about the importance of GDPR, scanning patients' records, and entering data into the system. I've also had the opportunity to observe various dental appointments, which has provided valuable insights into dental procedures. One of the most interesting was an initial consultation where a patient had an intra-oral 3D scan - seeing how technology is used here to help patients is really interesting!
Additionally, I've discovered how keen Crossbank Dental Care is to practice "green dentistry". I've begun researching sustainable dentistry and how dental practices can become more environmentally friendly.
What are your future goals?
I've applied to universities to study psychology because of my interest in mental health and the connection between human behaviour and the brain. I aspire to work with individuals dealing with mental health issues, and I believe that a psychology degree will equip me with the knowledge and opportunities to pursue this career path.
