Getting to know our dental team - An interview with Therapist Helen....

Updated: 18 hours ago

How long have you been practicing dentistry, and what initially inspired you to pursue this career?

I have worked within the dental industry for the last 20 years, first as a dental nurse and now as a Therapist. I loved being a dental nurse but I wanted to be more hands on and to help people. I went to University for 3 years and been doing dental therapy since 2013.

How long have you worked at Crossbank Dental Care?

I have worked at Crossbank Dental Care since September 2022.

Can you describe the Crossbank Dental Safari, and what it means for you as a Dental Therapist?

The Crossbank Dental Safari allows me to work to the full scope of my practice. I can provide regular dental health reviews, hygiene care, routine fillings and general maintenance to our patients.

What has been your most memorable moment whilst working as a Dental Therapist?

One of my most memorable moments was when a dental phobic patient with oral hygiene issues came to see me. Over various appointments I stabilised their oral health and built rapport. It was great to support them to overcome their fears and never worry about visiting us again.

What are you planning to do in your professional future?

I am currently doing a Diploma for Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry for Therapists.  This will allow me to enhance and extend my current clinical skill.

If you had to swap jobs for one day in the practice, which job would you swap and why?

Most definitely a Dentist! I would love to do a root canal treatment!
